Exhibit: "Dreams and Memories of Things Past",
An Exhibit of Texas Folk Artists

Dates: February 6, 2003 through March 30, 2003

Here is a rare opportunity to see paintings, woodcarvings and found art. City scenes and country life are drawn from the artists' memories of growing up in twentieth century Texas. Many of these artists came to the art world later in life.

This exhibit will include the works of George White, Henry Ray Clark, Alma Gunter, Emma Lee Moss, Velox Ward, Sweetie Ladd, Isaac Smith, Reverend Johnny Swearinger, "Texas Kid" Willard Watson, and "Aunt Clara" McDonald Williamson.

Marshall's Art community will be showcased in cooperation with the spring meeting of the East Texas Historical Association. Students from the Washington Early Childhood Center will carry out the theme, memory painting, in their work that will be shown in the Discovery Room at the Michelson.

In conjunction with the Michelson exhibits, local quilters will show their work using symbols thought to be clues to the Underground Railroad during the American Civil War at the Visual Arts Center. Also at the Visual Arts Center, Marshall area artists will also exhibit their work done in many media.
